Capitulo 10



“So...”

“So...”

“Listen, about the kiss. I know that it just slipped out. I’m not mad and I’m definitely not a child so don’t feel bad about kissing me. I don’t know why you did it, but just don’t feel bad about it.”

“Listen, Maria. I will never feel bad about that kiss. The only thing that I feel bad about is that Paul guy seeing us kiss and making you feel embarrassed. Trust me, if I did not want to kiss you, then I wouldn’t have.”

“You really feel that way?”

Maria was surprised when she felt the car slowing down and the finally stopping at the side of the road.

“If I didn’t feel this way, would I do this then?”

That’s when Chris leaned in and gave her the best kiss of her life. This kiss was much better than the first one they shared, but still Maria was cautious and did not lean into it.

“I won’t hurt you.”Chris said with her face between his hands and his so close to hers that she could feel his breath on it.

Maria broke off all contact with Chris. She could not not squeeze farther away from him.

“I’m sorry Chris, but I’m just not ready for a relationship.”

“Why is that? Can you tell me?”

“I’m sorry but I just can’t. To tell you the reason for that would be to give my soul away to someone copletely. There are only 5 people in this world that know what happened to me and none of those have hurt me so far. I can’t risk telling anyone else. This secret is the only one that I would give my life for so that no one finds out.”

“OK. I wont ask you anymore.”

“No, Chris. I can’t ask that of you. “

“How about this Maria. We won’t talk about it anymore at all. Don’t tell me the secret and why you keep fainting but please don’t think about it when we’re together. I want you to only think happy thoughts when you’re with me, even when you’re not with me.”

“Fine, won’t think of anything that makes me upset.” Maria said with a smile on her face,”except our fight in Trauma.”

“OK” Chris was now smiling too.

“So start the car and lets go.”

“Can I do something first?” Chris asked with a serious look on his face.

“What?”

“This.”

And he kissed her again.

After what seemed like hours but still too short, Maria broke the kiss off and asked Chris to drive her home. She felt truly happy. She hadn’t felt like this in a long time.

When she got out of the car, he gave her another kiss and told her that he would see her later that night. When she asked what he meant, he told her that He was planning on coming to Trauma every night that she was working unless he had an urgent meeting.

When she entered her house, Maria was surprised to see her mom sitting in the living room, crying.

“Mom, what’s going on?”

Her mom turned around with a painful look on her face and a paper in her hand.

“He’s back, mija. He’s getting out of jail.”

Maria felt the calm coming over her again. Then she felt nothing at all.
